Goalkeeper: Martyn Margetson![]()
Margetson may well become the best goalkeeper in the third division. Martyn won 9 international caps for the Welsh youth team but spent much of his career at City playing for the A-team in the shadow of Tony Coton. It would appear that he never really shone for City but their fans were surprised to see him given a free transfer after the 1997 / 98 season saw the club relegated to the Second Division. A City fan has said that: Margetson is a fantastic shot stopper but drops clangers once every four games that make David James look responsible. In our last few games of the season he scored an own goal and was partly responsible with Pollock for the QPR calamity. It should be noted that the Pollock own goal was a header from the edge of the box which looped over Margetson's head in to the top corner. It seems that City fans are keen on blaming their goalkeepers for any defeats. |
